Busy, Busy, Busy

So much has happened lately, it's been crazy. I feel like during the week I'm always on the go. I remember my adviser telling me and a couple of other girls that we should always remember to do the best we can while we're student teaching (and beyond), but to take care of ourselves too. I didn't think that would be hard. I was mistaken. haha I care about these kids so much! I see their potential and I want them to be successful. No doubt that the majority of my class right now will be successful. But there are the handful of kids that I know need some type of motivation that is different from the others. My classroom teacher has been the biggest help with teaching me how to keep everything in perspective. I'm learning so much about myself in this process, much more than I expected even.

This week will be pure insanity; Friday is Galleria, a mini-economy project that the kids from my CT's class and another 3rd grade class do every year. The kids get into groups and create their own businesses. They learn about the economy, supply & demand, money, etc., all in preparation for what will go down Friday. Each business comes up with what they will sell, creates advertisements, price lists, inventory, and the like, and this Friday, they will be setting up their mini-town in the "multipurpose room" and the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th graders will be making their way through at various points of the day. Each person who comes into Galleria receives $5 in play money and gets to spend it however they want at the shops. We have ice cream shops, pretzel stands, movie theaters, book shops, toy stores, pretty much whatever you can think of! The kids have worked incredibly hard, and I'm excited to see how everything goes!

My time left with these kids is getting smaller and smaller, though, and it makes me sad. Yes, I'm super pumped to leave for Spain, but I will sure miss this class! I got my passport application all turned in today; I should have it in 2-3 weeks. Just over a month until I'm flying across the world!
